What is a TOU meter?
A time-of-use meter keeps separate registers for energy used during peak and off-peak periods. A bill for such a connection may show both readings and separate units. If your bill shows only one energy register, a TOU schedule may not apply in the same way.
Why peak consumption matters
Where different rates apply, using high-power appliances during peak periods can increase energy charges. The applicable price and timing depend on the current tariff and connection category.
Ways to shift consumption
- Run washing machines, irons and water pumps outside verified peak hours when practical.
